It seems the SciFi Channel is holding back on signing the Dresden Files up for a second season. I can’t imagine why. The characters are all so well developed. The writing is witty and well paced. And the show is just great fun.
Based on the best-selling books by Jim Butcher, the Dresden Files tells the story of Harry Dresden (Paul Blackthorne), a regular-guy private detective with extraordinary abilities. While most private investigators see the usual assaults, kidnappings or murders, Harry is more likely to see the work of supernatural villains.
That’s because he’s a wizard. The real thing (and the only one listed in the Chicago phone directory). Whether consulting for the police on seemingly peculiar crimes or following his own cases, he battles dark forces with a wry sense of humor.
Throw in ghost friend called Bob, who is forced to spend eternity living in his skull due to some nefarious deeds, and a cop who thinks he’s crazy and you’ve got the recipe for a great show.
If you liked the show and are just as anxious as I am to see season 2 then send them an email at the SciFi Channel (feedback@scifi.com) and ask them to pretty please pick it up again. If you haven’t heard about or seen this show check out the series at the Dresden Files website or, better yet, buy The Dresden Files - The Complete First Season which is available on August 7, 2007. You deserve great tv!
There is a petition online to get Lionsgate to find another home for the Dresden Files. Add your voice to the list. Maybe there’s still hope.
** There’s an online petition to market this show to other channels learn more on this other page.
