RIIFF Presents Japanese Anime Festival
7:30PM • The Shorebreak, Pier Cinema, 3 Beach St, Narragansett, RI
This art of Japanese movie and television animation, which often has a science fiction theme, has gained huge popularity in the United States. Tonight it is given a special showcase featuring some classic and modern examples of the genre. $10; $8 for seniors/students and RIIFF members.
Please get there early so you don’t miss out, and carpooling is recommended. Hey, offer a few bucks for gas if members in your area are going.
June Meeting: Colt State Park on June 21, 2008, a Summer Solstice Potluck Picnic from 12:00 noon to ???. We’ll be at picnic site #2. There is plenty of parking, lots of picnic tables, and plenty of shade under the trees where the picnic site is. There’ll be games and activities for everyone.
May Meeting: We’re going to see the new Indiana Jones movie! Saturday, May 24, 2008, we’ll be at the Showcase Cinemas on route 2, in Warwick, R.I., for the 11:30 am matinee. Look for RISFC members wearing their Club tshirts, and perhaps a fedora or two! Lunch afterwards at the Ruby Tuesdays across the street.
April Meeting : Join us on Saturday, April 19, 2008, for a Potluck Dinner, and the ‘Extra ordinary Exotic Exchange Event! Got any console or PC computer games you’d like to trade for new ones? Have some sci fi collectibles you’d like to trade ? Here’s a chance to do an even exchange of your old games and SF stuff. Bundle them in packs of 6 or more, and bring them to the meeting. Everyone who participates can barter, and go home with new games and/or SF merchandise to enjoy. Oh, and it’s potluck too, so please bring a food dish to share, as well as a bottle of soda or juice. Coffee and tea will be provided. The meeting will be held at the East Providence Recreation Center, in East Providence, R.I., starting at 6 pm.
March Meeting: Dinner at Wright’s Farm, Inman Road, Slatersville, R.I. We’ll meet at 4 pm, and upon arrival, ask for the R.I. Sci Fi group. Check out their site at www.wrightsfarm.com for directions, and join us for a great family-style chicken dinner!
February Meeting: Saturday, February 16, 2008. Bowling at Legion Bowl, located at 610 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. Meet time is 3 pm, and the cost is $8.00 per string, including shoes. We’ll be ordering pizza at the site.
January Meeting will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2008, starting at 5 PM, at the East Providence Recreation Center. It’s a Game night, where you can use the in-house PS2’s, or your own game system. Please bring some snacks and soda to share, too.

September 15th, 2007: Exotic Food Potluck dinner at the East Providence Rec Center at 5:00. Bring your favorite ethnic or exotic food and sample others.
